General Manufacturing and Assembly

How does it work

1. Task Initiation

The control system receives upstream process data, information on how to pick up the part 1 for placement, assembly or holding of the parts.

2. Alignment to Secondary Part

Should part 2 be required (i.e, for assembly), Precision Alignment systems uses 2D and 3D cameras to acquire exact coordinates of Part 2.

3. Part Identification & Gripping Planning

The vision system identifies the part and returns guidance to the loading robot on how and where to grip Part 1. If needed, change of gripper to allow dynamic grasping can be done within seconds.

4. Secondary Positioning & Reorientation

Secondary correction to the position following prior steps for precise placement/assembly/holding of Part 1 for downstream operations.

5. Welding

The welding robot initiates the automatic wielding process on receiving the signal while the loading robot remains to hold the part in place ensuring sub-millimeter welding precision.

6. Unload & Report

After welding, the welded part is unloaded to an automated guided vehicle and the control system sends a signal for it to transport the finished products to the next process. The loading robot will repeat the process until assigned task is complete.

Speedbot Precision Alignment System

Advantages of the Speedbot System

  • Highly flexible Speedbot adaptive gripper

    • Can grip metal, fabric, glass and other reflective materials
    • Will not leave suction marks or scratches
    • Able to grip parts moving on a conveyor
  • 3D vision enables precise gripping of parts not uniformly placed

    • Precisely grip an object irrespective of the position or orientation of the part
  • Precisely grip an object irrespective of the position or orientation of the part
  • Precisely picks parts even in poor or complex lighting conditions

    • Precision rate does not reduce in complex lightning conditions (i.e., multiple light sources, shadows)
